The Philadelphia Inquirer has just announced Visconti’s new appointment as Artistic Advisor at Astral Artists, a nonprofit intensive mentoring program that specializes in developing the early careers of extraordinary classical musicians.
Focusing on a small number of rising-star soloists and chamber ensembles with the potential to be change-makers and influencers, the program’s laureates include Grammy-winning artists and many leading figures in the music community, such as soprano Angela Meade, pianist Simone Dinnerstein, crossover chamber trio Time for Three, and frequent Visconti collaborator Jason Vieaux (who tours with Visconti’s concerto Living Language this season).
Visconti will work closely with artists on long-term career planning and managing the crucial first major projects in many musicians careers, such as a CD release or high-profile recital engagement. With an emphasis on community engagement, Visconti will collaborate on projects designed to help today’s young musicians find their voices by cultivating diverse skills through partnership with their audiences.
